Re: Paul's NASCAR thread.
Ah! now ya talking Paul.
Proper NASCAR.... 'When men were made of iron and bumpers were made of steel'.
Do I take it this is a Polar Lights kit? I hear that the 429 (as opposed to the 427) is a VERY tight fit. Some say impossible.
Did you know that the front edge of the bonnet on these race cars was 'bent' down 1" lower than the production cars. It was an early aero attempt.
I have the Donnie Allison Torino Talladega in the stash and will be well pleased if it comes out looking as good as yours.
Nice work!! 001

Leroy was quite a competitor. He had a very sad end of life, but few could say he wasn't one tuff dude behind the wheel. I love those old Mercs, thank you for more good pix!

Ah, real Nascar. Nice build. What are these Polar Lights kits like to build?

Re: Paul's NASCAR thread.
Al, you may be right about the 429....that's why I put the 427 in it.
Steve....they are just OK kits. They need some help going together. Nothing an experienced modeler can't handle though.

Those older nascars are so much nicer than the new ones. Keep them coming Paul!

I've never seen this one as a kit or 1:1. Nice one Paul!

I can't help but think the NASCAR trucks had front ends like bricks. Great decal work as always! The Bonnettmobile I haven't seen done anywhere before, thanx a bunch.

If you ask me the graphis of this one are butt ugly, however that doesn't take away from your worksmanship. Very well done

Re: Paul's NASCAR thread.
Yeah, garish colors. Sometimes multiple sponsors and car owners can make for very bad art. If I could take away one color, it would be the purple. The camel's checked scarf is not smart either. That said, the model is superior and will stand as a replica of the way it was in NASCAR that year. The paint and decal work is excellent. Thanx for a car that may haunt a few dreams!

Re: Paul's NASCAR thread.
I seem to remember a Lake Speed (K-Mart?) car in purple. So many drivers made decent livings, but never made the headlines unless they were in a big crash. Such is racing, Just a few winners, many "also-rans" and some D.N.Fs. Thanx as always for your wonderful surprises. Someday you'll have to do a You Tube of the collection as if it were a car show or museum. It's that amazing!
