Pegasus White Walls
I've used them before, can't recall any issues. Until now. Just had some arrive, and I'm getting nothing but agro.
They just won't release from the carrier film to stick to the tyre.
Already wrecked two, and it's holding the assembly line up.
Help!

Re: Pegasus White Walls
I believe Pegasus whitewalls are made in New Zealand, and maybe an email to them may get an answer - but it’s the wrong time of year to be asking for help with places closed down for New Year.
Years ago, I used to manufacture and sell self adhesive whitewalls, in a similar fashion, and only found the odd case when the adhesive backing film was too tacky to get the very thin vinyl off. Pulling the whitewall off by tweezers only distorts the vinyl, making them useless. I simply sent off a free set, and if Pegasus live up to their ‘Quality’ promise, they should do the same.
Sadly Chris, no quick answer. 🥴

Re: Pegasus White Walls
Just another point - vinyl does have a shelf life, usually nine years, but the release backing paper or film only has three - to my experience.
It could be that they have used old stock film, or your particular product has been on the shelf a little too long.
Try cutting off one whitewall with backing and pop it in the fridge to cool off (not the freezer) for an hour, and try that. It’s worth a try ?

Thanks Ron, I'll give it a go. It's really annoying as it's stalling two builds. I might try heating as well.

I've seen hard plastic whitewall inserts that sort of click in, which work well, also white wall decals which are reasonable, but I don't think I've seen "stick on" versions, maybe a bit of watered down white glue might help, any pics Chris mate?

Hi Shay and a Happy New Year to you and yours. Was thinking the same. Get them off their backing, and used PVA. That at least would give me the ability to slide them into position. Pics later, off the the aged parents to play the IT guy.

Re: Pegasus White Walls
Happy New Year to you all !
My whitewalls were just sticky back vinyl, similar to what I would use on Commercial signs - but in ‘cast’ vinyl which was thinner and far better quality and would conform to the tyre. If I still had the vinyl I’d churn out a few......but unfortunately I don’t.
But, I can understand how frustrating it is when a product doesn’t work as it should Chris.
Yes, Shay, I still have an expensive landline, and on the same number, and still live at the same place for almost 50 years, but business closed 10 years ago. So, if I start to get anonymous heavy breathing phone calls I’ll know who it is !
My association with the Custom Car /Street Machine mags was only sporadic, but I did buy Classic American when it was on the shelves - they’ve all gone now, more or less, big engines and global warming doesn’t mix and the whole scene is out of fashion.

You're telling me mate! lol
Any joy with the whitewalls? I can only assume it's nice and warm there, which should help.

Nah. Tried another one today with heat. No joy. More intemperate language. I bought 3 packs, I'll try a different one tomorrow.
And yes it's warm. And humid.
Over'n'out for the night, tis 1.30 AM and I'm out of Scotch.
