3D metal kits/puzzles
I’m pretty sure that everyone has seen these before somewhere but maybe haven’t built any.
In the packet I got this.
Basically a photoetch experience.
Frets are thicker than the pe ones I’ve played with before. The knife was a problem because I couldn’t get a good enough grip on the handle to cut the pieces out so ended up using 2 hands, one holding the blade to steady it and keep it straight whilst using the other to grip the handle and push down. I’d definitely use a stanley knife next time as this technique felt quite dangerous, one slip and the blade spins around, bye bye fingers.
Using a pair of flat tip tweezers to do the smaller folds and then the larger ones with the pe bending tool it turned out like this.
It took a few hours and my fingertips were sore but watching it come together was an enjoyable experience + it only cost me £2.59 which made it all the better.
I’ll definitely do another of a different design and I would recommend giving one a go if you haven’t already.
Cheers

Re: 3D metal kits/puzzles
That’s an interesting subject.
I built a Harley motorcycle a couple of years ago - where it is now, I don’t know, but it was a challenging few of hours to put together. The parts were easily removed from the sheets but needed cleaning up with small files - but I enjoyed it at the time.
It makes a change from plastic.
