I might have a line on an old IMC Touch Tone Terror kit missing a few parts...been wanting it for decades now...even just pieces of one or a box, etc. As you know i lost many of mine in the storms here a few years ago one was my childhood build up of one.

Re: Odd ball kits....
When I was a newspaper delivery boy in the early 60's I got into modelling cars. At the time, Gowland & Gowland 1/32 scale kits were still available, but I was interested in the better quality 1/24 new releases. Years later, I began to collect built and unbuilt examples of those unique gems. Early quality suffered greatly in warpage and many plastic formulations were seen in their lifetime. Some releases even featured a cartoon-like driver. These are some of the later versions I built myself.
Revell, at some time, acquired the rights to produce them and even came out with action versions. A cable driven plunger allowed the user to pull the toy around and actuate a plunger which raised the rear end up like it was going over a bump.
Historic kits that are fun to build (sometimes).

Re: Odd ball kits....
Those historic kits are beautifully done!!!! They may lack great detail, but your work makes me wish I'd built some! Thanx.
As to oddball kits, I did do a couple "Weird-Ohs" back then. I remember one that was a coffin and probably Davey on his motorcycle. As my interest flagged in model-building, I did do some inexpensive 1/72 scale WWII planes. They were all brush painted and I was proud of my work. Good days, wish I could go back in time!

Re: Odd ball kits....
Continuing on this thread, here is another aspect of early modelling. A Pennsylvania company named Hudson Miniatures put out automobile models around 1947. They were mostly made of balsa wood with a few plastic parts and some pot metal castings. Later, they switched the pot metal parts to plastic castings. I've only started one of these so far, and they really do need modelling experience. These are 1/16th scale with 1:1 instructions to simplify shaping of the balsa parts. I've collected a few of the 18 kits so far. They also made some all plastic kits in the 50's that were later picked up by Revell.
This is as far as I've gotten with one of the kits. The balsa was all broken up in the kit, so I decided to make the body pieces up using cut up aluminum cans. It doesn't look too bad, but it will be rather delicate to handle during the painting phase due to the thinness of the aluminum.
This is one of Hudson's all-plastic kits. It's scaled down to 1/32 and was later bought out by Revell and added to their Gowland & Gowland line acquisition.

I had one of the balsa "Hudson" kits too! The Aurora company had a bunch of pretty large scale "Monster kits" as well, one I did build. There was also a Scots girl and I recall a couple good size knights-in-armor kits. Many oddball models back when the hobby was in its prime!
