Excellent piece of work Curtis.
Extra points from me for -
Attention payed to throttle linkage, rainbow effect on back window, brake lines, and a general use of orange all round.
Very smart.

Love the looped up lines on the Master Cylinder, cooling effect I guess.
The forward tilting bonnet is excellent, never seen that one before on a Merc Curt.

Re: The 49 Merc back together.
Thank you very much guys for all the kind words.
It was a struggle to bring this one home in one piece. The oil stained window was a real challenge of trial, and error, luckily I have a few of these kits. I learned what not to do for the next time.
The hood hinges were a real PIA to line up,install, and get to stay in place. I ended up making a new one for the drivers yesterday. Now the hood opens and closes without fear of the hing popping out.

Super re-vamp Curt.
Just one tiny detail...... maybe the exhaust tips should be blacked or or better still drilled and blacked. Just my tuppence worth.

Thanks Dan, much appreciated.
Thanks for looking in Al.
The tips on the exhaust are hollow polished metal tube.
You must be meaning the side pipes or what are known as lake pipes, which have the cover plates in place, hence no need to drill them out.
What they are missing are the little bolt heads for the cover plates.
When lake pipes first came on the scene back in the '50's many never actually functioned and were just for looks.

Re: The 49 Merc back together.
Yup was referring to the Lakes Pipes. I made alloy pipes for mine so didn't notice the 'covers' (well that's my excuse any way)

Beautiful! The extra work definitely adds a bit of extra pop to this but it was superb to begin with. Still amazed at the paint and effects - so very slick and cool.

Great build sir. I'm not a fan of customs, but I am a fan meticulously built models. And this one qualifies 100%. Outstanding work sir.

Re: The 49 Merc back together.
Beautiful engine compartment, but do you really think it would have a blue radiator core?

If you want a blue radiator, paint it blue.

Thanks Don I appreciate the props. And yup, a rad core can be painted any colour, black's just the norm.
There are tons of high heat paint available to do it.

"There are tons of high heat paint available to do it." That's true, but only black radiator paint is designed to transfer heat.

Out of curiosity I had to search that.
Seems any paint has the same negative effect on conductive heat transfer from the core tubes to the cooling fins of a rad. The only difference of rad specific paint seems to be that it is much thinner so as not the create build up on the fins and limit air flow.
Eastwood offers a rad specific paint, which they promote as to not clog up cooling the space between the fins.
Sounds like a good show for Myth Busters. I'd be very interested to see the hard number comparison between a painted and unpainted core.
Thanks for posting up that point Don.
