Of what material are those figures. I've worked with 1/72nd figures from IMEX and HAT that are a soft pliable plastic and have trouble keeping the paint on them. Any tips?

Yes, I agree, they look really cool. I've read about painting figures, but back when I was into modeling more, they were metal. In 1/72 they would likely be in some form of plastic, as it's cheaper to make from plastic.
As with vinyl large scale model car parts, I'm thinking of some 1/8th scale vinyl seats and convertible tops, they were all but impossible to get looking great.

Re: More 1/72nd French Line Infantry
Thank you for all of the encouragement.
Airfix are soft plastic.
I use on soft plastic either an etch primer for metal from hardware stores or plastic specific primers again from a hardware store.
The paints are acrylic artist tube paints (Matisse Flow and Matisse Fluid range) and Derivan MiNis, (no longer in production)
The ink is also from Derivan Matisse.
I then varnish using non yellowing varnish, again from Derivan Matisse.
regards Ty

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to start looking for that primer.
