Buick Special Wagon
Another obscure kit for the collection. AMT's promo for the '61 Buick Special. Tamiya Titanium Silver, and the usual treatment for the one piece chassis. The chrome for this and three other builds are off to the USA for replating, so there will be some delay on this one.
Polish tomorrow and BMF it when the next sheets arrive. I tried their Ultra Bright Chrome. NEVER AGAIN. Horrible stuff. Rips rather than a clean cut.
I'll stick to the regular chrome.
Like the Electra, the kit was in in good, built condition. I should blow some Silver along the rocker panels for an over spray effect, and need to silver the fuel tank too.

Re: Buick Special Wagon
Looking good - silver is a great choice for it.
I agree with your feelings on Ultra Bright. It seems the good old original chrome is the only decent product of theirs I've found. The black and brass are also doubly thick and tear easily.

Promos aren't that great. BUT, there is more variety in make and model, and for that I thank those old '50s '60s mold makers and companies ... and builders like you who share them with us. Bless your heart!

Excellent start! I echo what the others have already said about '60's wagons - looking forward to seeing this develop.

Very Nice..! There is nothing wrong with promos or curbside kits...in fact I sometimes prefer them over others. They all make great replicas...even some of the snaps kits. Id be happy if they could/would make more 60s wagons for us to enjoy.

Re: Buick Special Wagon
Great job on the conversion. It's good that the Buick Special was a lower level entry on the Buick line. Otherwise, it could wipe you out of BMF.
I've had good results with Spaz Stix Mirror Chrome. It's a bit more forgiving than Alclad.
