Post by Skid Sat 20 Oct 2018, 6:25 pm

Here I go again still trying to drum up my past motivation. Maybe I'll be successful this time..... I hope so!!

It's going to be dio in a similar vein to Time For A Brew

I'll be using these two kits from Tamiya:

Long Range Desert Group 57318510

If I can find a palm tree in 1:35th scale I'll include that too.

Here's where I'm at at the mo:

Thanks Kats.

Thanks for the HU on palm trees Paul. I found this on YouTube and I'm going to have a go at it, provided I can find some suitable leaves:

Got started on the Willys jeep:

And a mock up of what it may (or may not.... LOL) look like when finished:

Looks good, Al.

Do you plan to use all 9 figures in the scene?

Im in Al, the kits look like they went together well. I too am struggling with mojo, have put Monty back in his box and the Voyager is looking forlorn. May see what Paul comes up with on the group build front and jump in on one. Hope all is well up there. Look forward to the progress on this one.

A bit of Candy Apple paint and a couple of V8s Al boy!

Seriously, that's at least 4 of us that's done nothing for ages.

Car build Al?

Great progress! The dio set up is always something that evolves from initial concept to final product - that serendipity thing, lol. Looking forward to seeing the development.

Mike..... yes, I hope to be able to fit in all nine figures.

Gary.... all is well here. Chris and I are hosting a fancy dress Halloween party on Saturday, so I'll be dressed up as Dracula!!! LOL

Shay......"Candy Apple paint and a couple of V8s"...... BOG OFF!!! LOL

Kat's...... yes it will and has already evolved along the way.

The jeep kit was given to me by a dealer at the Northern Model Car Show a couple of years ago, as the previous owner had painted a few parts matt black, hence the black parts in this mock up of how it might turn out.

Thanks all.

Got the truck just about ready to start painting. The stowage is just laid on for effect and will probably change location as progress is made.

Looking great! It's amazing how a pile of rocks, some random duffels and a few barrels can imply a scene - looking forward to seeing the details get developed.

Very, very promising Al. I'm having a few days away from the bench too damn hot under the light.

Thanks all. Your encouragement works wonders for this old geezer.

GaryDainton wrote:Looking brilliant Al, a good few hours painting there. Are the drums etc going in the scene too?

Yes they are Gary and maybe some other bits and pieces too. I want it to be a very 'busy' scene.

Got the decals laid and now they are both ready for weathering. Interestingly, there are no markings for the Jeep.

The bit of branch is there to give an effect as to what it may look like when I make the palm tree.
