Spenser: for Hire 67 Mustang Movie Car
When i build cars I usually like to build something I've seen on TV or in the movies. To me there is something about building a specific car rather then something random. I find this works well for me in order to keep my interest. One of my all time favorite shows was called Spenser: For Hire. The show was based on the books written by Boston based author, Robert B Parker. On the TV series Spenser was your typical TV detective who drove a classic old car. As a hat tip to Steve McQueen and the movie Bullett, they gave Spenser a dark green classic Mustang. After the series ended (3 seasons) Spenser returned in 4 made for TV movies on the Lifetime Channel. In two of these movies Spenser drove a 67 Mustang. This is the car I'm going to try and build.

The kit(s)
The Spenser movie car was a 67 Mustang with the optional "Exterior Decor Group" option which included a new "breather" hood with functional louvers and built-in turn signal indicator lamps. The AMT kit which was my choice to build this car didn't come with a deluxe hood. However the Revell 68 Mustang did. the 68 hood was left over from when I built the 68 Mustang in its Cobra Jet configuration which sported the stock flat hood. JACKPOT!!!
The hood that I need, the detail is pretty good both the top and the underside
Of course nothing comes easy and the 68 hood doesn't quite fit the 67 body. DAMN!!!

Thank you. but in all fairness I haven't stopped building. The restructuring of Photobucket which blew away my modeling history only stopped me from posting on forums. I've just redirected my focus to Facebook and Youtube videos.

Excellent beginning! The mod to the hood looks great, the flocking turned out awesome and the interior is coming together nicely. Can't say I watched Spenser that much as a youth, I was more into Magnum P.I. because that's what my dad watched, lol. Looking forward to watching this one develop.

Looking good but I am pretty sure you should have glued the front headlight buckets to the fenders before you cut up the hood. I think its going to be too short now.

Re: Spenser: for Hire 67 Mustang Movie Car
It took some time but I found a color that closely resembles the Vintage Burgundy (X-Code) of the show car. I found it at a local model train shop a couple towns over. The brand is called Floquil, the color, "Wisconsin Central Maroon"
Adding color to the Mustang body and some accent color to the rear taillight panel and engine compartment
Two steps forward, one step back. Damn... Into a ziploc bag with some Eazy-off oven cleaner and start all over.

Sucks man, sorry to see this. Good luck on the recovery, it's starting to shape up.

It seems this is happening to me more times than not. I'm getting use to it.
Re: Spenser: for Hire 67 Mustang Movie Car
Nice progress even with the hood issue. I've never used Floquil, though I've heard of it, but it looks like it works nicely when it works. Here's to the second time being the charm.

Re: Spenser: for Hire 67 Mustang Movie Car
One of the hardest parts for this build was finding rims for this build. The car used in the movie didn't have standard ford rims. It had some kind of wire style. After some searching I found something close. I think these look ugly as hell in gold but that won't be the final color
The hood has been repainted and now its time for some bare metal foiling. I haven't done this in years
Just playing around a little with another chassis sitting on the bench. This has promise...
Play time is over. time to get back to business
Build completed, I'll be placing the finished pictures in the gallery
Thanks for following and thanks for being kind to this returning old sod of a builder...

Yeah, those rims are a better choice but I don't have any so these will have to do.
Yes, I have 3 different sixes of Motolow pens. They are pretty good.
