Richard Petty Pontiac Grand Prix
I haven't built a NASCAR kit since the mid 80's but I have bought a few lately so first on the bench is the Pontiac Grand Prix that Richard Petty drove to his 200th win on 4th July 1984.
First on the agenda was to remove the flash, ejector pin marks and seam lines on the roll cage. After that it was assembled and primed.
Next the floor was painted with Tamiya TS-23 Blue with the heel mat painted matt black and the interior parts added. I also painted the suspension parts and fuel cell.
Finally for this update the engine was assembled. The chrome parts were given a couple of coats of matt varnish to take the shine off.
More soon

Nifty! I didn't much like when the Petty machines added the STP red-orange, but any of the Petty machines make great additions to a collection. Keep us posted on progress.

Not my favourite NASCAR era but a nice start Tim. Keep at it.

Re: Richard Petty Pontiac Grand Prix
Thanks for the comments guys,
More progress. The suspension and engine have been fitted along with the wheels. The lettering on the tyres was done with a gel pen.
The roll cage was painted and detailed, after which it was attached to the floor pan. I also added the radiator.
Finally for this update I added the exhaust.

Nice clean building. I have this same kit about 3/4 done on my bench right now.

Great build, and the preassembled cage is a great idea. I wish I'd spotted it before I got stuck into the two NASCARs on the bench.

Looking good!
I sold off all my unbuilt Nascars over the last 2 years.
Only have a couple of the Moebius kits and an old Mark Martin that has the body painted and decaled.
Oh yeah and the Allison Matador I couldn't pawn off so I'm in the process of finishing.
Ooops! LOL Forgot the one on the bench, a prepainted snap kit of Jr's 2010 Impala that I have to do for the wife!LOL
