25pdr field gun and quad gun tractor
Still not in the mood to return to Mile End Garage (sorry John!!) or for a car, so this one is next:
Decals supplied can be for plain desert yellow or for a field commanders vehicle with the Mickey Mouse camo. Not sure which I will do yet.

Re: 25pdr field gun and quad gun tractor
Got the chassis built up and it does have a nicely detailed V8 engine but it's buried deep inside the engine compartment and is difficult to see properly. So I'll probably make it curbside, rust up the engine and place it at the back of Mile End Garage.
The front wings to engine compartment gaps will be fettled when I glue the body to the floor pan.

LOL...... it's not green at all Paul, they are just in grey primer at the mo. Never use flash on my models.
Going to go for North Africa non-commanders vehicle colours.

NOT a problem Al. I'm having the same problem with Ruth's. That's why you're seeing me on the dark side recently.

Re: 25pdr field gun and quad gun tractor
Thanks guys.
Any display/base ideas?
Not sure yet Gary, if I do it will be simple.
The final coats of Tamiya Desert Yellow have been applied to tone down the pre-shading.
While I was at it, I scratched up an 'in field' luggage rack to take the luggage Tamiya supply. (it wouldn't look right just stuck on without any means of securing, as Tamiya would have the builder do.

im assuming that its not going to be 'in action' since you dont have any figures
tamiya do some british army Military Police .....one directing, one sat on a bsa bike, and some sign posts....sure you could find another suitable figure,....have the quad at some crossroads asking for direction?

Re: 25pdr field gun and quad gun tractor
Thanks Gary.
Nice idea Paul.
There is a driver with the kit and I am sure I could come up with passenger figure too. However, my figure face painting really sucks and the thought of having to paint for of them, doesn't bear thinking of
I over sprayed the pre-shading with Tamiya Desert Yellow, did some chipping and applied the decals. Streaking will be next.
I also mocked up the luggage Tamiya supply and added some Jerry cans and a couple of drums. The whole will have an open weave cargo net over it when complete.

Re: 25pdr field gun and quad gun tractor
good to see you have used 'captured' german jerry cans...........the american type one didnt come along til '43-ish...........up til then the british army used 4 gallon ones known as a 'flimsy' cos it was very thin metal
theres a thought for a dio....shame you dont like doing figures cos im sure Masterbox do some british 8th army 'at rest'...........they used to use a flimsy cut into two to make a Benghazi Cooker.......bottom one would have sand put in it and a splash of petrol.....one on top would be used to boil water or cook in.................you could have had them making a brew

Re: 25pdr field gun and quad gun tractor
Boy you certainly like spending my money Paul but I really like your dio idea and may well do just that.
Can't find that British Soldiers At Rest set though. Plenty of German, Soviet and the odd USA sets but no British!!
As for the Jerry cans, I really wanted to use Flimsies and I have been searching for this kit:
but again can't find it in the UK and USA shipping prices are just potty money.
shame you dont like doing figures
I don't mind the figures, it's just the faces I suck at............. oh for Gary's skill in that department!!
