1/24 london bus diorama
Hi all, this may or may not happen, it will be the biggest project I've ever taken on I've been playing with the layout, it will be huge (I may have to try and make it in 2 halves somehow to store and work on it) anyway I cut the footprint of all the the vehicles and have placed them roughly (obviously a piece of oblong paper doesn't really look anything like a car or bus but it gives me an idea of scale needed, as you can see I can't really make it any smaller but I will need a few more cars ( any suggestions on iconic British cars availiable in 1/24)
This is something like I'm hoping to depict.

Re: 1/24 london bus diorama
Time period is irrelevant really, I would like to be 60s but I already have a 1934 Bentley I'm getting a mini an E Type jaguar a rolls phantom 2 and a London taxi so already quite an age range, what I want is iconic British cars, I've been told there's a 1/24 land rover but all I can find are die cast ones, I've also been told there's a 1/24 escort but not found it yet.

Wow, what a project. Not being up on London could you tell me which fountain that is, it looks iconic. And I'll be sending you much positive creative vibe - I love diorama's but have yet to make the leap and do one, much less on on this scale.

Fantastic idea! It would be a bear to store. I would worry most about what statue and base to put in the center. You could add music with the 1960s FACES tune "Around The Plynth." I'm surprised that the older ESCI kits, like the Escort, aren't around anymore. They were here at swap meets-toy conventions until maybe 15 years ago in the U.S. Good luck, on a big project it's best to go slowly with all the work involved.

They gave builders a very nice engine! Your paint work on it brings out all the realism!

Re: 1/24 london bus diorama
I've got to say compared to the mammoth airfix kit (it helps building this after that) it is a lovely little kit and incredibly some of it is better detailed than the twice the size airfix kit, so far I'm really impressed with this kit, there are a few things I would change to improve it like not embossing the areas where the decals have to go and moulding the tank with 45 degree angles on all the mating surfaces so the mesh effect doesn't leave a band all round the outside with no mesh (I know airfix kit is the same but it's big enough to cover with actual mesh) of course they are minor things and it still is a lovely kit but I can't help thinking they are such easy things to change.

Re: 1/24 london bus diorama
Hi all, well Robin (on another forum) had a great idea to add a zebra crossing to give me a cut line so as i can join the two halves together, but I've checked and can find no ref pics at any time period with a zebra crossing at picadilly circus (and I can't add something to such an iconic British landmark that wasn't there) so,,, Ive got a cunning plan, I'm going to make all the buildings and scenery removable (not sure how yet) anyway made a start on the fountain, I was going to cheat and do it as it was in ww2 but of course the route master and mini and taxi for that matter were after ww2.
I know, I know it looks like corrugated cardboard but with a bit of plaster of Paris I'm sure it will be fine (I hope)

It will look brilliant with a thin coat of medium of your choice Ken, if you want a change from 'plaster' have a look at something like this.

Awesome start on the engine for the Bentley! And I am greatly anticipating seeing how you choose to build the fountain, already liking how the base looks
