1962 Ferrari 250 GTO Penske Mecum Racer
I started this kit many many years ago, I want to finish it up.
I was given a PE wire wheel set and I bought some HRM tires.
I was going to use the kit velocity stacks but they look awful, so does anyone know where to get some metal ones?
They're tiny...
I used some brass tube to make the spark plug wire loom and some wire insulation painted yellow for the flexible part of the fuel line

I worked on this one a lot this weekend.
I have the engine prepped to accept the new velocity stacks from Mike's Ferrari Parts Emporium
I cut some brass tube and drilled out the carbs to put the tube in. This way the stacks have something to attach to.
I polished through the clear on the right rear quarter. Oh well I am not going to try and fix it.
This kit has a lot of parts and moving suspension but it is very fragile. I have had to replace two of the axle/wheel mounts with brass because the plastic broke off or was too short. I have had to drill the door hinges and glue wire inside as pins because they broke.
The sliding side widows work but I broke one trying to trim the sprue nub off. I made a new on out of the sheet clear I have. It looks better than the kit one that I glued the lever to. I am going to take the kit one back out and replace it acetate to get rid of the fogging.
I am not happy with the ride height but I can't do too much more to fix it. I already installed the front spindles upside down to lower the front about an 1/8"
If I ever build this kit again I am going to thin out the front finders around the side vents and work on raising the rear wheel arches just a little so that the whole back can be lowered without the rear wheel being too far up into the opening.
Just a bit of touch up and clean up, velocity stacks and I am calling this 6 year build done...
I also got tired of Photobuckets slow site and am trying Fotki...
