Re: '40 Ford convertable salvage
Gave the paint fairy a couple of Midols and reshot it. Used 1 Shot gold this time instead of generic rattle can stuff. Hopefully it'll gas out and remain glossy without any clear.

You don't see many gold cars. I like it.

Installing some of the interior stuff.
Took it outside to see how it looked in the sun. Doesn't appear very glossy !

Re: '40 Ford convertable salvage
Metallics tend not to have a deep shine since there's a lot of "color" to get the solid look and little clear for depth. Sometimes clear coating can make silver look more grayish so if using clear coating, do a test on a plastic spoon first.
I luv the skirts on the real wheel wells and all else looks great too. Thanx!

Re: '40 Ford convertable salvage
Well, thank y'all.
Today, I'm removing the thick windshield glass, to replace it with thinner acetate.
Yesterday, I had my man, Igor, shoot a coat of clear over the gold that kinda dulled down after the initial shoot. WE used the small can of Krylon Crystal Clear that came with the decal kit from Micro Mark. That has laid down pretty good every time I have used it.
Well. Igor, ( I swear I'll fire him someday !), thought it would be a good idea to clear over the installed windshield. Not a good idea at all.
Removed it, but the frosted glass would not clean up !!

Looking mighty shiny now! Windshield, I've seen in an old mag how old model clear plastic can be saved with much ultra fine sanding and that Pledge "Future" floor wax. You're lucky the windshield is both divided and flat. Thin acetate will look perfect. Thanx for new fotos.

I like that Clear. You can get it at Walmart for less than 3 bucks a big can. Comes in Gloss and Satin. the only bad experience I have had with it was over House of Kolor Candy paint. Nothing to begin with but but a couple of years after the build little dark spots start to show up under the clear. I know if Igor didn't work so cheap you would get rid of him. Looks good Clay.
