34 Ford salvage project
Also going on in CB # 18
Planning on rebuilding this FUBAR'd gluebomb roadster with a chopped roof !
I think that pile of rubbish was a 34 Ford roadster,The chopped top is from the salvage stash.
I have my work cut out for me. One of my pet peeves is waving wheels extend beyond the body lines on fendered cars. I'm squeezing in the rear meats and bashing new inner wheel wells from an old salvage body. Replacing the missing trunk lid from a salvage hood. My trunk lid may have a slight peak. :o)
Well. the contours on the peaked hood were all wrong for the trunk lid, so I formed a piece of flat stock around a bottle, in boiling water, and got the rounded trunk curve good enough to fit.
Repaired the glue damage on the cowl ends of the hood, and found a better, undamaged fender assembly in the salvage yard. Found the correct size for the grill. I guess I have 34 grills in both scales!
Paint on the second salvage fender assy was extremely hard and glossy, and my regular red oxide priner wouldn't 'grab' on to it . So, i gave it a brake fluid bath and will reprime it with Dupont self etching primer. Going to try getting this together with it, and the body together, and painted as one piece.
I have attached the cab and will continue on with the body as one piece. I was able to find ONE headlight cross bar in the whole of my stash. It's the wrong year and I have relocated the mounting holes. Later finding that it doesn't quite clear the grill, so, They'll be separated. Getting some lens material is a bridge that I'll have to cross later.
DOH !!!
I was so into getting the rear end narrowed, and narrowing a lowered front axle, that I completely overlooked how low that exhaust collector was !! It is 1/8" lower than the bottom of the tires !!
Changing the exhausts to something else from the salvage !

Nice...It is sometimes good to use whatever one has laying around to build something. Sometimes one can come up with a really cool build from them.

Probably 95% of the models I build come from my salvage yard. If I do happen upon a new kit, it usually becomes merely a box of parts. I just can't seem to assemble one the way it was meant to be.
This is what happened to a NEW Chev Indy pace car kit

Re: 34 Ford salvage project
I liked the way this looked in white primer, and so figured I'd go with a light color.
I brought home a can of Duplicolor Mocha Frost Metalic.

Love the bashing/modding/sculpting - the body looks great. And the Mocha Frost is a gorgeous colour, even if the name isn't 'tough' lol.

Re: 34 Ford salvage project
Interior parts not on floorboard are all installed in the body shell.
