1937 Ford Convertible
Got home from Arizona and realized that I don't have two or three projects going. That just wasn't going to do.
Consequently I dug this out of the stash.
I have never liked the appearance of the chrome on the hood skirts and decided that I want the model to look more like this.
To do so required filling areas marked.
I completed the fill today and now have a body that looks like this.
I haven't made up my mind whether or not to attempt to change the headlights. Going to have to think on that one for a couple of days. This is more complicated body work than I have done in the past so it is going to take some time. Bear with me. Suggestions welcome.

Re: 1937 Ford Convertible
Was looking at your build and like the concept/ real car photo. The headlight dilemma ? Those small buckets could be achieved using the 'nose' from ball point pens and lenses from the parts bin.........
Cheers Eh!

Yeah, a 2003 copy of Street Rodder. I was given about five years worth of them a few weeks ago. Lots of inspiration there.

Re: 1937 Ford Convertible
I've pretty well made up my mind not to attempt the headlight move. I guess you could call it a failure of nerve, but there are just too many angles coming together at that point and I think I would just screw it up. I think I will continue to stare at it until after Thanksgiving and make a final decision on how I want to proceed. In the meantime I have started a box stock build of a 32 Coupe.

Re: 1937 Ford Convertible
I think changing to the pod headlights would compromise the 'phantom' look of this kit and take away some of the sleekness.

Re: 1937 Ford Convertible
Pass or fail I think you should have a go at making the headlights. I think they would be simple to make from a couple ball point pens and scrap yard lenses. Makes no difference if you faill. At least you tried and learned something in the process.

I've had a look around at some custom jobs of this type and I'm sitting on the fence about the lights (regarding what I presume you're contemplating) , I think it would be nice to see you have a bash at the custom style, I'm sure you'd pull it off.

Re: 1937 Ford Convertible
Okay, I have decided to retain the original headlights, but have rounded them and have softened the peaks on the car's fenders.
I also have gotten the first coat of paint on the car body. It is Tamiya gray primer from the rattle can followed by Model Masters Sterling Silver Metallic also from the rattle can. The color coat is Sinful Colors Courtney Orange nailpolish through an airbrush.
I think this color reasonably represents the color shown on the 1:1 car on the magazine. Comments and suggestions welcome.

Nice work on the body, I think the pod headlights look the part, but they're going to be a PITA to excute well.
So no compliants from me. In-your-face orange too. Not a factory colour!

John, I like the orange color a lot. Nice and bright!
Looks to be close to the color I was thinking of for my Meyers Manx (full size car)!

Re: 1937 Ford Convertible
The colour shows better here than on Skype John and looks good.
It looks metalic though while the magazine photo looks solid butthat might just be the old computer thing.
Nice work on the headlights and fenders but I do think you should have gone for the headlight conversion!! LOL

Normaly I'm not keen on colours like this as they remind me of that unspeakable flu medicine that absolutley turns my stomach but I have to admit it looks good John.
I agree, the weave does seem a tad large on the top. Take a look at the weave on the Model A Sedan (which you won't return to me!! LOL) and if you think it will work for you, I'll send some across the pond/

Paint looks nice, John. The body looks like the forerunner of the Plymouth Prowler.
The top material looks like a coarse weave that might not shed water easily.

Al: That would be great. The weave on that is perfect.
