Clay:  People talk about those of us involved in modeling as having patience.  Bonsai is a hobby that
requires P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E!!  Congratulations though, it looks like you really know what you are doing.

Answer -  until  it dies, Arni.

A plant becomes a Bonsai When you plant it into a bonsai pot and treat it as a bonsai, It can be a seedling, nursery plant, or a 100 year old plant collected from the wild.
Plants cultivated in containers or in the ground, with bonsai as the intended end result, while training and growing on, are termed pre-bonsai, until they reach a stage that the grower/artist sees fit to pot it up.
It will then be a bonsai until it dies or is planted as something else.

True dat, Arnie.
However, in Japan there are bonsai trees that are over 400 - 500 years old. They have been passed on from generation to generation, and cared for by bonsai masters.  My other hobby 3331969777

Is IS a hobby not unlike models. You take something small, alter and shape it and use artistic (Asian inspired) ideals to create a tiny masterpiece. It was a big thing for a time in the '70s, with some Public TV shows doing episodes. I remember one of your builds using one, and I think it may be here somewhere in the back files. Thanx as always for sharing your talents.

Hi Mr G,

I love looking at these, you have some great skills Sir, I have seen some of those really old Bonsai's on one of the Discovery channels the other day, simply amazing...

Thank you for sharing Sir...
