......... the stash but what a quality product this is.

Years ago when I was big into slot carb racing, I bought a Dremel but found it too big and heavy for scale styrene modeling. I then went through three small and light 'Rotorcraft' versions but often they lacked the power for the job in hand.

So when my last one wouldn't 'track' the drill bits properly, I went searching for a replacement.

My criteria this time was quality, a proper chuck, (NOT collets) and be able to handle very small drill bits. All that was achieved in this Minicraft drill and power supply

Oooodles of power and variable speeds up to 30,000rpm. The guy on the phone said it could handle drill bits as fine as .4mm but in fact it can handle down to at least .3mm. (the finest I have)

About 2.5 times as exensive as the Rotorcraft ones I've been using but should far out last them in the long run.

Really chuffed with it.

Can I be cheeky and ask where from and cost Al.?

Looks perfect.... My little cheapo dremmel replica isn't perfectly "true" any more and vibrates a bit with drill bits...  Not good for fine work although perfect for engraving lol.

It's not cheeky at all Colin. I got it online from these guys:

SMC

The drill cost GBP19.99 and the transformer/speed control GBP29.99 plus GBP4.99 next day, one hour time slotted delivery.

I chose the MB160 as it has a 40w motor as apposed to the 30w motor of the MB150 and I prefer the button lock on the keyless chuck.

The guy I dealt with on the phone couldn't have been more helpful, was knowledgeable about the product, and answered all my questions in a professional, clear and concise way. He even rang me the following morning to advise me of the one hour delivery slot time.

One to recommend in my book without hesitation.

Hi Al,

That certainly looks the bees knees, you'll have to do a proper review on it when your used to it...

I have a Dremmel look-a-like but sometimes it can be a little too brutal even on it's lowest setting, so I bought myself one of these Pedicure Machine things off the E-Bay which is pretty cool for doing minor adjustments etc...

Andy...

P.S...I forgot to add that they are also able to use the same Dremmel type bits too...

Looks like an excellent investment if one builds a good deal. Thanx for the review. The old dremels weren't really designed for really fine work or drilling, so this is a revelation for superdetailing!

Got it in place now. I think the only way it could be improved, would be the addition of 'curly cord' on the drill itself.

I had to make the hanging clip for it, as none was supplied. But oddly, the holes in the case were there!!

Hi Al,

Looking at the transformer, can you use more than one tool with it at a time, seeing the other, what look like holes in it...

Looks right at home in that spot, can you not wind the lead that is with it and turn it in to a curly cord...
