Chopped 39 Panel rework
I have been working on this for a couple of days, but have postponed posting it because I wasn't too sure if it was feasible even. While he was in Florida a few months ago, a friend dropped off these resin pieces for me to play with.
I'm not a big fan of fading the front fenders of fat fendered cars, so I thought to change this chopped 39 panel back. I had a set of 40 Ford fenders in the stash, and will try to patch them in. Removing the resin modified fenders proved to be quite a chore (Don will know), but I got 'er done !
Trial fitting.
Some serious patching in with styrene scraps, including a set of inner door panels.
And today, my major helpmate......Bondo !

Wow, I've heard resin can be a B**** to work with and sometimes mold quality can be horrible. Kudos for having the bravery to blend resin with styrene. What glue is used, I wonder.

Well, when my benefactor cast the model he built, he used the original inner inner space for the male mold. The female had the fender extension he had built, so there was about a 1/2 inch thick resin slug the length of the fender extension between the front and rear fender. I had to cut that out. It's laying at the top near the discarded 40 grill in the 2nd foto.
I just used super glue for everything

Great start Clay. That sure is a lot of work. I still have the original master, that looks just like what you made. Are you going to rat this one?

I'm not sure yet how I'm gonna finish this up, Don.
I have cannibalized an older prostreet, that wasn't all that great, for the chassis.

Re: Chopped 39 Panel rework
The knee is doing quite well. I had a request to do a piece of artwork and now that is finished, so I'll be getting back to this for a bit. ( 'Til they open the knee back up to remove some hardware that broke)
But this morning, I shortened the salvaged chassis about a 1/4 inch to get the wheel base matched up.
Still looking at a ton of bodywork.

The mockup looks awesome - a nice long bodied look.

Re: Chopped 39 Panel rework
Forgot to mention that I had planned from the start that this would be a semi- curbside. The butchery will be there, but hopefully not showing in finish fotos

Re: Chopped 39 Panel rework
So it's beginning to look like a racing vehicle for transporting bodies, a "quarter hearse!" Good luck in therapy and healing of the knee. Glad you're still doing art work too. Better than sittin' here in the "Polar North!" Thanx for the super glue info.

Re: Chopped 39 Panel rework
Only just read through this, there's some serious remodeling going on, and I'm very impressed with what I've seen so far....gives me ideas and inspiration to have a go.
Hope the knee gets sorted.

Looking good Clay. I like the "B"B Pillar has the right slant to it. Might be straight up and down, hard to tell from this angle. Breaks up the long window nicely either way.

Hi Mr G,
This is looking great so far Sir, your version looks tons better than how it was originally...

Little more finessing on the bodywork and I have repainted the wheels.
