I bought this 1/24th scale truck just after Chistmas, and started assembling it straight away.

The chassis and engine was sorted...

..even tried out a Chevy Pick-up cab - looked good.

and over the last couple of days I added paint, and started on the weathering.
...note: the parts are only placed in position for the photos and have yet to be glued in place.

The red Duster in the background will eventually be a replica of one that I owned - if it gets finished.

That's a good looking & well weathered tanker. I built the tipper version a few years ago and recommend the kit.

On the Chev cab side, I used a '65 cab on the Italeri Opel Blitz to make a truck.
Not 100% accurate, but captured the spirit of the real thing.

Waddyyaknow...I've got a Blitz on the Bench.

Now do I keep it military, or use the Chevy cab ????

I love them both Ron but please keep the Blitz as a military vehicle. There are plenty Chevy's around.

I have a Revell Bussing in my stash that I want to build as a well used truck, once my weathering skills have improved some.

I seem to be building the '50s Bedford and '40s Opel trucks in tandem.
As I wait for the paint to dry or cement to set on one, I move onto the other.
Both have very similar engines - Did the GM link exist then??

Yes, Opel & Bedford were part of the GM family from the 30s onwards. There's a whole family of GM straight sixs that look similar too.

Chevrolet, Holden, Bedford, Opel & Vauxhall all had their own versions on the same theme. I don't think any parts interchange, apart from
nuts & bolts. And the Opel would have been metric I assume.

Thats a fine looking Opel too! I've got the fire engine version in the stash.

So have you decided which way to go. Or will Al threaten as all with a poll?

Cheers,

Chris. Good painting weather here in sunny Queensland today so the Sunoco Olds will go under the aerosol me thinks.

They are coming along nicely - and I'm enjoying a military vehicle too.
....nope Al, no canvas included. Weathering to airbrushed and splattered on next.
...again more educational info - thanks Chris.

I'm not getting much done with my models lately - life is getting in the way.
but the OB Bedford is slowly moving towards the finish line.

Good old Post Office Red and Oxford Blue for the paintwork Chris
- and the engines are Mk2 VW Golfs, for a little diorama I am building on another forum
entitled : ' Back to the scene of the crime'. ....I'll post pictures when I get it finished.

How's the weather down there? - looks like it could snow over here soon.

Ron, what brand of paints are they? Airbrushed on?

Weather is overcast. High 20s today & there's a cyclone lurking about 1400 KM north of us.
Which would explain the overcast!

I've got all that in hand Al... I've got a 'fitter' lined up for the job.

..and we could do with some sunshine over here Chris - if it's not raining it's grey and dismal.

Really great work on all the oldies! We in the U.S. are stuck for the old big trucks. Mostly if you want to do an oldie, buy something like a '30s or '40s pickup and fit on a resin aftermarket body. That usually involves a lot of altering between body and frame. The "EMHAR" line is a new one to me too! Thanx and take your time. Great progress pix so far!

The old Bedford isn't progressing very far, with just the odd detail here and there.
Here it is with the optional dropside timber body...

English Bedford Tanker Truck 3ef3a331-100c-4926-8b8c-d8070da0b94f_zps9e17e869

it needs the windows fitting next
- but I hate fitting windows, and I think that is the reason a lot of my builds come to a halt.

Some successful athlete gave his/her secret to success, work on the weakest part of your performance and when that gets better, the whole thing seems to go like clockwork. I luv the old trucks, and in the U.S. except for some resin bodies, we're starved for parts. Thanx for more on the truck!
