2 Q's. Sunoco Blue & making headlights
Picking the groups brains:
1) What's the best match for Sunoco Blue? Tamiya TS 15 looks good- any alternatives?
2) I need some headlights for my airfield defense project. Made the 'boxes' up & was thinking of using a ring either cut from plastic tube, or an O ring, BMF for the reflector, & filling with PVA. Any other suggestions? Nothing in the parts box ATM.
Thanks & a Happy New Year to all!
Chris

Chris..... Tamiya TS16 would be close enough for me. If you want an exact match you could buy some Zero Paints from Hiroboy:

Let me know what size headlights you need and I'll take a look in my spares for you.

Some years ago Al sent me some round rings that are used for fishing. They are different sizes. I think the larger ones would make great headlights. Making a lens will be the trick. Acetate should do the trick there.

Scale Finishes, in Salt Lake City, Utah, has Sonoco Blue and Yellow. These are shown under the "Racing Colors" category. They are a base coat paint in acrylic lacquer, so they need a good coat of primer over all plastic surfaces. They come pre-thinned for airbrushing. I use Testors "Ultra Clear" as the clear coat.
Not sure if they can ship overseas though, but contact them via e-mail.

Thanks Buck, I assume you mean the rings that the line travels through on a rod? Not being into fishing, I dunno the exact term.

No Chris that's not what they are. I will take a photo and post it tomorrow so you can see them. I am not a fisherman either so I have no idea what they are or how they are used. Really nice that they come in different sizes. They small ones work great for bezels around gauges.

Here is a suggestion for the headlights. Wiggle eyes, sold at arts and crafts stores, they come in various diameters. Meant for kids projects when you shake them they move like cartoon eyes. Flat backed clear acetate bubble with a black plastic disc inside that slides about. Easy to cut apart.
Cheers Eh!
