Straightening Resin!!! Empty Straightening Resin!!!

Post by Skid Tue 31 Dec 2013, 10:20 pm

I'm supposed to be doing a dual build, with a member on another site, on a new Belly Tanker in the next day or so. This time I'm using the resin kit I couldn't find anywhere last time.

However, the tank is warped and I don't want to start it until I have a fix.

Lateral twist is  easy to straighten with steam but this one is warped longitudinaly which presents a much more difficult proposition.

Steam isn't working and I fear it's too much to sand out.

Anyone got any ideas??

Make a vertical cut (you might need more then one) in the belly in line with the panel line on the top half. We do the same thing to bend large pieces of wood.

Bring a pan of water to a rapid boil. Dip the piece for 10 seconds and place on a flat surface and hold till it cools. Repeat as needed.

Al, I surmise that when the resin is warm, you will need to pull the sides apart to bring the ends up.
