While waiting for paint for other builds to arrive, I started yet another one.

I first built this kit when it was first released back in the day, along with the 900SS & the Hailwood replica. Last year I bought all 3 reissues to do them again, and not as glue bombs this time.

Modified the rear engine mounts to make fitting to the fully assembled frame easier. Frame is meant to be assembled around the engine.

Filled in holes on the frame that are for the road gear on the 900 SS / Hailwood replica. Also removed the centre stand mounts and a few unused brackets.

Reinforced the seam on the tank/seat unit

Completed frame ready for primer.

First lot of priming

Work on the exhaust & paddock stand started.

Next step will be to prime the body work and frame with white primer ready for the TS8 Italian red.

I built this one a couple of years ago.

Nice start.

Been some progress over the last week.
Coat of white primer laid down.
Ducati 900 NCR. DSCF1163
Ducati 900 NCR. DSCF1166

The race bikes don't have an electric start, so that had to go.
Ducati 900 NCR. DSCF1220

Nicked the left crank case cover from one of the Hailwood kits, looks better.
Ducati 900 NCR. PICT0004

As some of the endurance racers kept the kick starter as a back up, I had to add the shaft and housing.  They slip the kick lever onto the shaft when needed and remove it when the bike is running.

Note the angle of the front carb, should be on a verticle plane. If you rotate the manifold to align the carb correctly, then the carb sticks out to far and sits to close to the frame tube.
Ducati 900 NCR. DSCF1267

A bit of surgery.
Ducati 900 NCR. PICT0005
The manifold can now located correctly on the head, and the carb fits a lot closer to the engine.

The chrome is a bit dodgy. One side.
Ducati 900 NCR. DSCF1222

The other side.
Ducati 900 NCR. DSCF1223
Not good. All three Ducati kits are the same.

I have always loved the older Ducati's, I always remember when I was working in a garage a chap always used to ride past on a Black and Gold 900SS, you could hear it for ages both before and after he had gone past...

You have made a great start, I hope you don't mind if I tag along and watch Sir...
