Denis' Truck Builds Empty Denis' Truck Builds

Post by Shelby Thu 04 Jul 2013, 4:28 am

I thought I would start sharing some of the stuff I've built over the years, including trucks.  Some of you might have seen these while others have not and I think it's a fun trip down memory lane for me.

I built this Chevy S-10 back in 2005 when the truck was not such a distant memory at the time.  I used a leather tie from the 80s to make the bed cover, can't see it but I also made a headliner for it.  The rest of it is box stock and painted with Insignia yellow from Testors.

Nice. I wish I could find 2 of those kits. Well one kit and a bed. I want to convert it to a S-15 with the long bed.

I haven't figured out how to multi quote yet...but thanks for the good words guys!

Al - That yellow isn't for everyone that's for sure. :)

Clay - Thanks!

Buck - That would be really cool to see. The kits aren't very expensive. Go for it!

Time to put up another one of my old builds.

This time it's Rev-Mono kit of the '37 Ford pick up that has been re-issued a couple times since I believe.  Very nice kit to work with too.

Spot on Denis!! 001  Did you apply a wash to the panel lines?

I have this one in the stash. I'm planning to convert it to a flatbed as transport for a Midget Racer.

Thanks Al! That sounds like a cool idea. Yes it was my first wash on panel lines and on the one side the line was non existant for about half the door and being an after thought I basically kinda painted over. Taught me to scribe before painting. LOL

Hi Denis,

These two look great, I love the yellow on the S10, I think it suits it...

Thank you for sharing these, looking forward to seeing some more now...

It's great to see unusual kits, pickups in particular. I miss models of vehicles that were not speed demons. The yellow Chev had good lines, brought to glowing reality! The black and white Ford is equally cute, more in the tradition of an old truck used then as a show vehicle.

Denis: I really like the 37. It is a clean sharp build and is appropriate to the era. Good job.
