Louvers from the salvage yard
My latest, a Model A , has the radiator in the trunk area. I'll need some air flow and heat transfer there, so looking thru my scrap yard I came across some louvers. When I have leftover stuff from a kit, I'll put it in an appropriate bin, and usually forget the original source. So I don't recall where these particular ones came from. But I'm testing out how they will work.
First, I cut a slot just about 1/8 inch.
After I get a nice clean slot, I thin the edge, much like I thin away the thickness of a fender edge or hood cutout.
Then with super glue, I carefully glue the portion of louver in the center of the slot.
With a new #11 xacto blade, start removing the webbing between the ends of the louvers
The louvers are opened and I have plugged up the over cut at the top (even tho this is just a test).
A shot of primer and not too shabby. This is an simple operation, but it is a tad exacting. Might take a little patience, but if you're trying this, you're not expecting to just throw together a kit assembly, right?

Re: Louvers from the salvage yard
Thanks Clay I will try that for sure. I think those louvers came in several of the old AMT kits as custom pieces. I can remember as a kid just gluing they to the body. With about 1/2 tube of glue of course. 001
