Pro street woody
A recent splurge at AK Collectibles - Monogram 30 Ford Woody and a Snaptite Z28 Camero .
I wanted the Camero because for $18, I could get all the pro street goodies!
Here's how nice the folks at AK are! They had the Camero listed at $18. When I called, he didn't have the Camero. He asked me to give him a day to locate one. When I called back, his wife told me he was across town checking with another dealer, and would call me back. About a half hour or so, I got a call. The other dealer had one, and AK would hold the price at $18 they had listed.
The Camero comes with an upper and lower chassis. I have used the woody floor plate as a template and trimming the sides a tad, got the upper portion with the tubs, fit into the woody body. I'll have to do something about a front clip, but I'll deal with that after I get the lower Camero plate with the suspension mated to the upper tubbed half.
I might have to channel the woody some to get it down. We'll see . :drunken:
Will probably be pulling off this build a bit to deal with the salt community build. :drunken:

Excellent Clay! I like the direction this is heading! Keep up the great work! I think a lot of people's projects are gonna slow down a tad when the CBP starts. 8)

Re: Pro street woody
I'm kicking out the wheel wells a little. I don't like to see tires protruding past the body sides without a flange or something. That pill bottle is the exact circumference as the cut out. I really don't know exactly how I'm gonna work this .
I may have bobbed fenders on the rear and fenderless in front.
I found an new front clip from a 5 year old Craftsman truck that I have been raiding from. It reminds me kinda like a Fatman IFS kit.. We'll see about that also.
I'm really digging around in hoarded stuff. I have a Parts Pac Pontiac that I have had for several years. It just got 90% dechromed with Oven cleaner. :drunken:

Re: Pro street woody
Lookin' good Clay! I would go with fenders in the rear to cover the massive meats. And something like Plymouth Prowler/Motorcycle style fenders in the front. Be an interesting looking Hot Rod then. ;)

Re: Pro street woody
Nice concept Clay.
I agree with Jason on the front fenders.
On the rear, seeing as the Woody body is all 90 degree angles, I thnk straight, bobbed 90 degree fenders would look good.

Re: Pro street woody
Had a quite extended senior moment that spanned a couple of days.
After deceiding to have bobbed rear fenders, I went ahead and made extended wheel openings with the pill bottle plastic, and epoxied them in.
Beeing tubbed, the wheels don't stick out that far. So I spent this morning grinding them back out.

Re: Pro street woody
Coming along right nice and the front end looks detailed and a real change from the usual leaf spring. Take your time and good luck!

Re: Pro street woody
The new wheel wells look like they will work nicely. I like what you got going here. You don't see many Woodies Pro-Streeted. I don't think I have ever seen one.

Re: Pro street woody
Back on the woody, I got to looking at the parts pack Pontiac 421 I was going to use, and thought, dang, that looks kinda small. I compared it with the Monogram engine that came in the. woody. They're both touted to be 1:25 scale. I'm going with the Monogram engine. Can't have no dinky lil out of scale* engine in a prostreet !!
*Not sure which is the correct scale, but I need BIG !!
Revell parts pac - green.
Monogram - black
And I have the rear fenders narrowed and raised some..

Nice update Clay. I am with you 100% bigger is better. No doubt about it.

Re: Pro street woody
Interesting idea. The outcome should be good.
Re the engines, the Monogram Woodie is 1/24 scale, that's why the size discrepancy.

Re: Pro street woody
I need to fit the woody's cowl so I can build a front clip.
This caused a bit of carnage to the Camero's floor pieces. ;)
Yeah, yer right, Steve, My quick glance at the box this morning wasn't very accurate. I think maybe I was too anxious to bash Revell .

Re: Pro street woody
Here's today's mockup of the frame front being scratchbashed for the woody.
I can assure those of you that may be rolling your eyes and groaning, that notching the bellhousing to fit between the frame rails is a standard in the manual of Imagineering.

Looks like twin NOS Bottles in front of the tubs. Big motor little car, I am loving it.
