1932 Ford Coupe - High School Hot Rod
1/8th.scale 1932 Ford Model B - 5 window coupe.
Following on from my gluebomb ‘32 Beach Racer, we have another Ebay donor part built model.
First let me say, I prefer the 3 window ‘32 Coupe to the five, anyday, but by building the five I can utilise the roadster body, and use the doors moulded in the original kit. Resin kits are available in the US, but at huge cost to those on this side of the Atlantic - so I thought I’d attempt my own home-built deuce coupe.
From plans that I found on the internet I set up drawing the upper panels and windows for the coupe body to scale and made them from layers of plasticard. I then added those parts to the existing body, and created a frame of plastic, built up from more layers of plasticard....and some car body filler - Isopon’s finest. Once I was happy with the shape, I made a new firewall, front screen surround and various other details. Once primed and more sanding, it was painted in Mazda Copper Red Pearl. All the underside was wired and plumbed, the front suspension lowered for a hot-rod rake, and the engine and interior was completed. I left the odd white wall slicks on the back, black-walls front, and the bonnet (hood) off to create a Period ‘60’s High School Hot Rod.

I like !! I can't believe you scratch built a roof and grafted it on. It looks great. Paint, stance, everything is spot on.
