Jesus Curt, they look deep. Never had that happen. I'd sand the feck out of it.
Best of luck.

Re: The Batmobile from the '89 movie,
It is what it is. I have decided to not go through the arduous task of laying all those checkers on a paint job that is in all aspects a disaster waiting to get worse.
So instead I shot it with holographic clear then a dusting of colour change. So to deal with all the fish eyes (bullet holes) and bleed through (crappy masking) I have decided to give the shell a battle beaten scare treatment. First I have to figure out how to do that.

I feel your pain man. You can prepare and be meticulous in all aspects then the paint, fickle thing that it is, turns around and bites you right on the backside. Remember my Thunderbird hood? chomp!!
Well done for turning it round to your advantage (I would have suggested bullet holes too).

Re: The Batmobile from the '89 movie,
Shay has been napping again...
I was going to suggest you flock it black like the 60's version.
I saw it once at the Darryl Starbird car show in Wichita Kansas. The next year it was painted because the flocking was starting to come of and it looked like it had the mange.

Curt, you've got more patience than I. Fisheyes after all that work, and it would be on a one way trip to the bin. Great work, and I'm sure you can salvage it.

Re: The Batmobile from the '89 movie,
Aside from the fisheye, the paint job and striping looks great.

As always, many thanks and appreciation to all of you for your expressed interest and props.
Not sure it's patients or stubbornness, either way the builds always get done.

Re: The Batmobile from the '89 movie,
Thanks Gary, but it needs something else. I don't think it looks convincing.

Having committed to this route as a 'save', I think you're doing an admirable job Curt.

Re: The Batmobile from the '89 movie,
Wow, talk about a saga of unexpected consequences. Glad to see that you're turning a 'fail' into a 'new path' as that is always better than giving up. The battle damage is looking good, the only thing I would suggest is perhaps some carbon scoring or flash burns from larger munitions.

Re: The Batmobile from the '89 movie,
Thanks Gary and Kats.
Kats, thanks for the input, how do I go about doing that?

I agree, its still too clean. Some puffs of grey and brown with the air brush maybe. What is the shell supposed to be made from? If carbon fiber, maybe a few more nicks. If a metal alloy, maybe a few dents with a heated round punch with some blast debris (the puffs of shades of grey and brown) around them.

Re: The Batmobile from the '89 movie,
Curt - the carbon scoring is sort of like crud build up, like soot but thicker, found in cracks and on ridges near battle damage. Think along the lines of excess propellant which found its way to target and burned onto the it, we're talking really close range attacks here. This can be achieved easily with thick, cruddy black paint - in the past I used to razor off the dried paint from the edge of the lid and 'glue' it using more of the same paint.
Flash burns are the implied near-misses from rockets or other larger, propellant driven munitions. If you really want to get serious you could create some 'bubbled paint' on the body but generally its enough to AB some carbon black in fan patterns similar to soot from an exhaust port. You can use templates to lay down the initial fan and then feather it out after for a real looking fade effect.
I only suggest these as a possible option, the Batmobile already looks great.

Re: The Batmobile from the '89 movie,
Thanks for the detailed description Kats. I think I have reached my desire to do any more on this for now. I may however add those to the car when I tackle the dio. But for now I am calling it done.
Mitch, thanks man I appreciate your thoughts, as with Kats ideas I think I will do more weathering when I build the dio.
