Adventures in stripping and re-coating indeed. The primer shot looks very nice though the body looks smaller (joke). Looking forward to seeing what the new colour scheme looks like.

" Looking forward to seeing what the new colour scheme looks like."

Want to keep the original color choice, which was to be about the same as the stock bodied ''57 completed not long ago.

Finally got something that will look halfway presentable. Was struggling with the rear bumper.  becoming disenchanted with the performance of the Molotow pens That I haven't used all that much. The chrome that looked so good at first on some trim quit flowing nicely and gets patchy flat silver, no matter the shaking. AND,  it will not blend in with itself if you have to overlap. OK quit whining.
I next tried some Alclad that I had and it wouldn't take the clear. Turned silver. Finally used some silver paint and cleared it. It's passable.
So then, the attempts to do something with the side panels. Had no decals that would fit in any manner, tried some hand Trible flamed with an ink pen. Too sloppy. Next some abstract color washes that have been cleared without mishap and will have to do.
I may finally get to try the body color after some drying and cleaning.

I believe people have good results in decanting the Molotow chrome pens and airbrushing the ink, could be worth a try?

I have heard of people airbrushing the Molotow Chrome. The person I talked to about it buys the "refill" for the pens and then airbrushes it. Dave said it worked awesome. I haven't tried it my self so this is all second hand knowledge.

In the paint booth and out of the paint booth. I'm gonna like this if I can get it all together without further mishaps

I'm not really keen on Tribal flames but I can appreciate the effort that goes into them. '57 sectioned - Page 4 1705482731

This may be my last attempt at drastic body mods, Even though I really like the way this concept came together. My great looking 3rd paint attempt looked pretty good  until it had gassed out and shrunk down ! The underlying finish of the primer did not show the flaws, but the top coat sure did !
I am hoping that my eye problems can get solved, but it probably may be due to my old age and nothing can be done about it.  I definitely do not like being in the hands of Doctors of any kind unless I'm bleeding or broken my knee cap !
I am going to finish up on this and hope the final completed photographs won't show the flaws so badly.
Unable to come up with anything for the headlights, an old chopped  Nomad that I never liked, came to mind, and for the first time ever, I robbed from one of my own finished builds.

Nice idea to fill that area with flames.

Those aren't really meant to be flames. Just an abstract marbled pattern to compliment the body color.

Love the nose on this one. I think body work flaws showing trough the paint are something we all dread.

Very interesting look in the comparison between '57s! Blue was always a fave color for me. Glad it's working out, finally. About working as we age, I found brighter light and(as necessary) working through an arm mounted lighted magnifier works wonders. I got mine long ago (mostly of cheap delicate plastic) for 5 bucks at a sewing store and popped in one of those compact fluorescent bulbs (100 watt equivalent) and I could count the hairs growing on the back of my hand!
wish u well in health and weather!

Wow, what a struggle with the paint. The abstract panels look good to my eye, can't really see the flaws you mentioned on the last set of body coats. The headlights look good with the front end styling.

I can attest to how well the Molotow chrome shot through an airbrush works. '57 sectioned - Page 4 3887228019
