Nail Polish.........
......... advice needed.
Just tried it for the first time.
I got the finish nice and smooth but by the time I had it thin enough to spray (and despite backing of the needle I still had a very narrow band of spray) it was so thin and needed around fifteen passes to get decent coverage. What you see here has taken about 25% of one bottle.
So any help yo can offer guys will be very much appreciated.

Re: Nail Polish.........
This is normal for some nail polish Al, some of it is only meant as a top coat. Some stuff looks opaque in the bottle then turns translucent once thinned and run through an ab.
I herd if you apply some to your nails and wear some complimentary eye shadow out to a nice restaurant it really bring out the true shade.
I have some nail polish that looks like an awesome moss/emerald green. Once I thinned it and layed it down it was just and awesome clear fancy gold clear.
Forgive any typo's I forgot my glasses at home today.

So, when buying the stuff, how does one know which to buy and which not to buy? Seems a bit hit and miss!!

Re: Nail Polish.........
So far what I have found is that if it looks to be translucent it is not going to porvide good coverage, and only good as a top coat.
Kinda makes the dollar store polish a great buy.

Re: Nail Polish.........
OK..... so you think this may have worked if I'd applied it over a light blue base?

Re: Nail Polish.........
You'll likely get good advice here, but googling "nail polish and plastic model kits" gives a number of sites. With polish bottles holding not much, it's best to buy a few of the same color just in case. As to translucency, tipping polish bottle then looking at what clings to the side can give general density of color. Tutorials at model build sites also can yield good tips.

Re: Nail Polish.........
Good tip harron on tipping the bottle.
I would think that would work Al. I really like nail polish such amazing colour ranges. What do you use to thin it and how much? I use Acetone, and mix it 1:1.

I forgot to ask about translucency when we talked this afternoon. Curt is right the more translucent it is the more likely you are to have a problem with it. Curt has some really good suggestions. I particularly liked the one about wearing it to a restaurant.

Might happen Shay. My daughter is a family history addict. She managed to get me to submit a DNA Sample. It came back showing I'm 20% Irish so you'll never know just what I'll do.

Re: Nail Polish.........
Every nail polish I have tried is translucent. You can spray over a color coat, that will help with how many coats you need, but I never have. Both of these were sprayed with nail polish reduced 50%. The 37 took 3 bottles reduced, the Meyers Manx took 2 reduced bottles, plus 2-3 coats of clear on each.

Re: Nail Polish.........
Guys I don't know what kind of nail polish you are using, but I have never used more than three coats, not including the top coat, on any project. I thin 1/1 with cheap lacquer thinner and spray at about 25 pounds.
