1960 Austin Healey Sprite club racer
This is the Gunze Sangyo curbside kit of the Austin Healey Sprite.
I cut the hood loose and used some sheet shock to finish up the engine compartment.
I cut out the molded in engine underside and used a 289 from the parts box.
The wheels are from the newly re released Opel GT kit and the tires are from a Revell BMW 320i kit
The fenders got some bodywork to bring them out a little around the wheel openings.
Parts box decals and Duplicolor paint. The seat belt hardware came with the kit but I changed to red belt material.

'bout time you posted this one here Mitch!!
Nice job.
Now, are you ready for that race?.... big heavy old V8 versus lightweight inline four banger. You might take me down the long straights but I'll pass you in the twiddly bits!!

You would be alright on the straights too Al, obviously with a race tuned frog eye. heck i've seen a 1955 Austin Healey 100S (1380cc i think) do a 12.6 quarter at santa pod.
I'd join in with the Saab... but i'd get bored waitin' for you both lol.

Big ole heavy V8.... The ONLY thing that beats cubic inches (litres for you two) is cubic money.
I will be in the winners circle with the ladies swooning over that sexy V8 sound while you two are still limping around the track...

I like it. I must confess to some V8 conversions ( a couple of 1:1) and a Trabant in scale.
A Lotus 7 is in the stash, it will get some 'V8 love'

It's all down to power to weight ratio Mitch and weight destroys handling in the twiddly bits.

Now there's a sprite that goes over 80 mph! Nice work in a model that looks pretty basic for a Gunze.

Nice work. I used to be a Service Writer at a British Leyland Dealership, this one brought back a boatload of memories.
