TAMIYA PAINTS
Good evening guys
I keep hearing glowing reports regarding Tamiya paints used through the airbrush. I would appreciate honest opinions before I ask Father Christmas for some.
Would also welcome advice re thinning ratios, mediums etc.

Re: TAMIYA PAINTS
I use them quite a lot Gary and have no problems with them other than the gloss, as far as I am concerned, still needs a clear gloss coat.
As to thinning, 50:50 with cellulose thinners has served me well for years.

Re: TAMIYA PAINTS
Hi Gary it's all I used until I bought the new ab and the alclad stuff.
I use the x20 thinner at 100% paint to 50% thinners so far so good.. I even tried using it neat, it comes straight through the ab but I wouldn't advise it. The paint dries textured and rough to the touch.. I had to try it though just to see what would happen.

Thanks Paul, suppose thats the trouble with a subjective thing like individual paint brands, some like em, others don't. Think Ill get a couple and see how they behave for me.

Re: TAMIYA PAINTS
I have no outlet for them in my town. No Hobby Shop at all in the whole county. So I have gotten along fine without them since coming back into the hobby in 2002. I did buy a bottle of their Black paint a couple years ago so that I would have one to show scale in a photo, but haven't used it yet. I work mainly with Automotive spray paints, most decanted and either brushed on or air brushed on.

Thanks Buck, paint eh?!, its a real minefield to be sure. When you find something that works for you I don't blame you for sticking with it.
