Ilyushin IL-28 Beagle
my entry for a Cold War Jets GB somewhere else.... i went looking for a 1/48 MiG of some discription.....a 15 or 19 or 21...........but as i was walking around a show a while back i saw this on a stall and just had to have it!
back when i was a kid and into this malarky the first time round this was one of those kits that was always on my want list but never actually got....either could never afford it or when i could something else came first......so im finally getting round to building something thats technically been on my want list for 40+ years!
ancient kit, first came out in 1968 and this is a 1992 reboxing, obviously dosnt compare to todays offerings , very basic, mix of raised/recessed panel lines.......im not much of a plane builder these days, always found the paintwork hard but this should be easier as its an overall BMF

Ditto what I said at the other place. Did some wiki reading after I saw your thread, this plane is still used in the North Korean air force.

Re: Ilyushin IL-28 Beagle
I like the shape of this aircraft, very sleek yet quite aggressive looking.
Top job so far Paul
I see you have plasticine as a valued work assett too .... cant beat the stuff in my opinion, so many uses ... you can even use it as filler on solid joints.

Looking good Paul, looking forward to seeing this go together. Innovative use of plasticine.

Nice one Paul.
For a non swept wing aircraft, the wings look too far back to me. LOL

Re: Ilyushin IL-28 Beagle
its had 2 1/2 paint jobs....tried to do some preshading, first coat of aluminium just didnt work, so re-preshaded in dark gray and did another coat of ally........and ended up giving the top surfaces another quick waft over after that!

Nice! I think this was Russia's answer to the U.S. A-10 Warthog. Does it have tons
of pylons and stuff to hang off the wings? Liking the NMF paint job!---John

Re: Ilyushin IL-28 Beagle
My goof, the Frogfoot Su-25 was the Russian version of the Warthog A-10.
Still a nice looking unit, almost looks like the old Russian Yak-25 "Flashlight".---John

Re: Ilyushin IL-28 Beagle
