Florida Trip
I will be going to Florida for two bike events from January 20, thru Feb 12.
I will start with assisting teaching the Adventure Cycling Leadership Training Class just outside of Orlando for 4 days. I then have 4 days to kill and get to the Ft Lauderdale area. I then lead a week and a half self-contained tour, which goes down to Key West, then a ferry ride up to Ft Myers and then ride across Alligator Alley to Hollywood.
So I am trying to figure out some things to do in those four days. On my list so far is:
- Visit the Don Garlits Drag Racing Museum in Ocala
- Visit Cape Canaveral and the space center
Anybody have any other "must see" items? I have a bucket item of visiting the Margaritaville Café in Key West, but that will be on the second bike ride.

Sounds cool on the trip, maybe you could give gezzerman a shout for his address and stop in for a while to meet him and see his neck of the woods Just a thought.

Don Garlitz Drag racing museum in Ocala Should be a must stop for any gearhead going through the area. Great stuff !!!
Orlando is loaded with theme parks and 'amusement' tourist traps. I avoid it like a plague!

Re: Florida Trip
Sam, I am working hard on the Pike's Peak racer!!
But the bike tours are my version of "work". It is something I enjoy, and actually make a little money at, if only a small amount. If I "need" to buy a new bike, then I break even. If not, then I make some. And I get to meet new people and see new places from the seat of a bicycle!
Clay, I agree that all of the "amusement tourist traps" around Orlando hold no interest for me.

Re: Florida Trip
Hey Pete I agree if I was that close I would try to meet up with Clay. I think that would be a real treat. The Garlitz Museum is something else I would not miss.

Re: Florida Trip
Went to the Morse Museum of American Art in Winter Park, just north of Orlando, Thursday. The Morse Museum houses the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany. Well worth the $5 entry.
Tomorrow I will be judging a BBQ contest in Plan City.
