Builders Block
Bah gum....I'm going through a long 'builders block' at the moment.
My model building has been slow for a few months,
but now I'm struggling to raise any enthusiasm to glue plastic together or lift a paint brush.
I venture into my loft cave, scrabble through my kit boxes, move things about and do a lot of looking and thinking,
but that's as far as I get. I just can't understand it.

Re: Builders Block
Do you have other hobbies, I find it helps having several interests or "just the one" gets stale
I got into a similar scenario about 6-8 weeks ago, other things on my mind etc, no enthusiasm for starting a kit, couldn't see anything I'd be interested in doing in the shops.
I moved onto another hobby and did six weeks or so searching for and digging up prehistoric bones, interspersed with some geeky computer stuff etc.
Came back to the bench a bit fresher and found the mojo to start a kit.

Re: Builders Block
I've been in a funk for months, have not even opened a box....until I got that huge big rig score. I knew I had to go through it and figure out what I wanted to do with what. Combine that with an empty house and I ended up digging out two stalled builds to finish up.
So I guess what I am saying is.....kick out the family and go buy a car full of new kits. It worked for me !

Re: Builders Block
Ron...... I've built constantly now for the last 13 years, always having something on the bench. There have been times when the inclination to actually do anything has been lacking of course but I find the best wasy is simply not to force it.
Go open some kits and fiddle with the contents. Make plans for what you will do with them. Tidy up. Even strike up a conversation with the wife as a last resort!!! LOL.
Just don't force it or worry about it.

Hi Mr D,
I am in the exact same boat as yourself Sir, I just haven't got any enthusiasm at all, I have been trying to finish a kit for the past few months, all that I have done is build up the engine and prime the body, tonight for the first time since I came back to the hobby I have popped it back into it's box...
I guess the mojo will come back one of these days...

Re: Builders Block
I guess it happens to us all - but you know me, I like a good moan !
Not much has happened on the bench over the past month.
I had one day when I started the Tony Nancy Dragster triple kit, and that is as far as it got,
- but I might fit one of the engines in the '34 Ford - maybe?
Also started a rudimentary chassis for a '50 Chevy Dropside truck.
I'm not one to sit about watching TV - most of it is dire anyway, and my days are full doing various other things
..... but I just seem to have lost my modelling mojo too.
Not to worry - it'll be back !
...but I like your idea of retail therapy Sam.

Ron: Happens to all of us at some time or another. The last time it was my turn I went out and got a SNAP KIT and resolved to finish it overnight. Stayed in my cave until the thing was done. It broke the block and I got back to modeling. As a real surprise, the thing took a second in Curbside at the next contest I entered. Happy days.....

Re: Builders Block
Happens to all of us. I am in the same state of mind lately. Have three started projects and not an ounce of motivation to finish any. I have been through it all before and know it will change in a bit. I find sitting around talking about cars and models gets me fired up again.

It happens to all of us. Eventually it will come back. You'll see something that will light a spark in your head and then you'll be back at it. Hang in there. Don't force it.
