Black Swan Empty Black Swan

Post by webby Sun 14 Jul 2013, 12:54 am

Went to torment /feed the ducks at a local lagoon. A pleasant suprise with this pair of black swans & 2 cygnets.
They're not afraid and actually came up on land with the cygnets.

Looks like they'll be there until the cygnets are grown, they certainly let the ducks know who is the boss.

Nice photos. Are they common in your area?

Cool!  I've actually never seen a black swan in the flesh feathers.

We have white swans in the estuary here in Swords, flows out to the sea in Malahide.

There's been a flock there for 100's of years. They built a bypass over the estuary about ten tears ago, everyone thought the birds would leave,(there was uproar about it at the time) but thankfully they stayed put.

I must take some pics.

Chris, there's a couple of them on a nearby dam, but this is the first time we've seen them at this lagoon.

Cheers,

Chris
