More Historic Racecars
The usual suspects & I ventured to Morgan Pk Raceway for a Historic Racecar meet. Big attraction was a field of Group A and C Touring cars from the '80s.
Heres some pics, and a free piece of sprue to the first member who can ID all the cars
My only gripe was the presence of the Japanese "Rising Sun" flag on some of the despised ( by me) rotary mazdas. To me, that flag is symbolic of the criminal militarism of the Japanese empire. And as offensive as a swastika flag. Enough of my rantings,I hope you enjoy the cars.
Just realised that I've posted in the wrong section. Admin, please feel free to move it to the "photo opp" section.

There is a Clubman, Comet, RX-7, a couple of Ford Escorts, A Toyota Celica Supra in Orange, a Ford Mustang (85 or 86), I believe the first one is a Holden, and the li'l Green Micro Car has to be a Goggomobil (sp). 8)

Pretty close, Jason. First one is indeed a Holden. A HQ Monaro.

#1 is a frod falcon, ditto the two cars flanking the rx-7 in #7. They're the XD model, 1979-82 era. Horrible cars, huge turning circle, s-l-o-w steering and still using cart springs on the rear axle, and an under dash handbrake. And for some reason, frod decided to put the horn on the indicator stalk. Add lousy rustproofing too- which is why we see very few survivors.
Well spotted on the A30/35 rear window- I only knew about the difference from the track commenters spiel.

Re: More Historic Racecars
Rotarys were a HUGE problem to consider and here in the U.S. I believe they were pretty well held down in chances of winning due to rules of displacement and what classes they ran in. As for the Japanese, yes, the Australians and New Zealanders suffered a lot from Japanese harshness in battle and if captured. Horrible times, though we celebrate heroism and forget the evils of wars. Luv the cars. In the '60s in the U.S. "sedan" racing of many foreign makes and smaller displacement cars was popular with hobby racers and fans. To see everything from old Saabs to Minis and Sprites battling on old courses made from abandoned air fields made for a great era. Costs were low and happiness and fun were high, thanks!

Glad you enjoyed them. Its a great track, well run and we ( me & 2-3 mates) go about twice a year to the Historic meetings.
Do an overnighter in a cabin, partake of liquid refreshments and a fantastic Indian resturant to boot.
Win-win-win :D
