A hard fought battle.....Fiat 131 and Ford Escort MkII

Seeing Dave's gorgeous MkII Escort rally, prompted me to look up my own on here (with Fiat 131) ............ BUT it appears I never posted them.

Anyway............... 1978 and the Fiat 131 outclassed the mighty Ford Escort on the world rally stage for the second season on the trot. It would go on to win again in 1980.

Both Revell kits and both have their fair share of issues.

I didn't do a WIP 'cos I just wanted to have fun building two 'shelf' models. They were both built as curbsides with only basic interiors.

The roll cage in the Escort is a real joke!!

They look good and well raced.

Ooh very nice. I should have probably clarted mine up a bit. Maybe in the future.

These both look awesome Sir, I miss seeing "real" cars on the roads, all we have now are computer-controlled jelly mould cars...

I built a few many years ago, sadly only one has survived, it's the Crystal body version...

The crystal body is very rare Andy.

There was also a Zackspeed circuit racing version. Italeri has repopped it now as far as I can see.

I haven't bought a kit for ages, but I'm getting one.
