Excellent work! Not really familiar with this model of Buick, it looks very cool and the body colour is very deep and rich, love it.

Re: 1965 Buick Riviera
Thanks Curtis and Kats! Car designer Sergio Pininfarina once claimed the first generation Riviera to be the most beautiful car ever produced at that time. I built the 1967 Riviera and when I got this kit, I was kind of disappointed in it. But, this kit is much older than the '67 Riviera kit that was produced during AMT's "Golden Days".

Re: 1965 Buick Riviera
I painted the grille with Tamiya X-1 Flat Black paint, waited a few minutes and then I wiped off the grille bars. The headlight covers were painted with Model Master Metalizer Aluminium. The taillights were painted with Tamiya X-27 Clear Red and the backup lights were painted with Tamiya XF-2 Flat White.

Beautiful work! The best word I can think of the describe the paint colour is Lush. Looking forward to seeing the development.

I like the older molds kits were made from they have a special thing about them. Looks beautiful in that color...very nicely done. Somewhere I have the old Barris issue of this kit.

The parts for the Barris car are included in this kit and the body shows the spot on the roof to cut for its removal.

The color is perfect for the vintage Riv. Nice job laying it down.

Re: 1965 Buick Riviera
Well, it was bound to happen soon or later. I reach over the Riviera to reach a tube of superglue and when I had lifted the tube by the cap, the cap came off and the tube spilled onto the Riviera's left front fender. My heart just sank! I sanded the fender and got it as smooth as I could, reprimered, repainted and reglossed the fender. The fender is now slightly darker than the rest of the body. I'll have to refoil the trim that I had to remove and polish the paint. Lesson learned...tightly recap a bottle or tube of whatever I had used!

I wondered about that... Sorry to hear of the mishap with the glue and body. I do some conversions of one body style to another like 2 door HT to wagons..etc. Im always worried something will happen during painting to make me have to start all over again and loose all the work on the bodies of them. Keep up the good work.

Re: 1965 Buick Riviera
Thank you disabled modeler! I like to keep the bodywork to a minimum, so if something bad should happen, I won't have to go too far back. The Riviera has now been reduced to a mere shelf model with all of its newly gained flaws. I may show it some, but it is for the most part relegated to the shelf.

Unfortunate about the mishap but it looks like a great recovery. As another who has 'been there and done that' I sympathize, it seem no matter how diligent one is there is always that possibility of an oops.

So very, very true! Like many things in life, I try to be diligent enough to do the right thing. Sometimes, I have a bad day...
