48 Chevy Fleetline aerocoupe - OG bomb style
While researching lowriders, I came across a sub- genre: bombs.
Apparently named because of the air raid sirens fitted to a lot of lowered cars after WW2, when military surplus was readily available .
I'm using aftermarket artillery style wheels and a 3D printed swamp cooler.
I've reworked the rear end to sit it lower.
I'm trying to upload photos but it's not working properly today

I dig those wheels, they kinda look a bit like the wheels on the Chip Foose Caddi kit.

Beautiful masking and template work! And thanks for the step by step shots, definitely a tutorial on this sort of really involved paint detailing.

Thanks everyone. I hope the progress photos help and maybe get you to go wild with tape and paint.
Got a fair bit done today. The herringbone pattern had about 160 little bits of tape. I had a go at some panel fades and sunrays. It looks a bit vivid right now, but will become more subtle under red candy. It's all a bit of an experiment. I'm making it up as I go along, really.

Fantastic paint job. I'd go mad doing all that masking.

Nice work Geoff. I'd love to know how you did the black area at the rear.

Cheers Skid!
Have a look at one of the previous photos. You can see how I overlap the tape. Once all your tape is on, airbrush next to the tape edge until the shadow is dark enough, peel of that strip and repeat on the next and so-on. I watched a lot of YouTube to figure some of this out.
Got the lace decals on. Leaving it to dry overnight before clearcoat.

Appreciate you showing us the step by step process. I understand the process in principle but seeing it done is truly valuable.

Wow, I've seen tapestries and woven Persian rugs with less detailing. Some incredible effects and colour combos going on. I appreciate that you're making it up as you go along, a personal philiosophy of mine as well, lol.

I was really digging the multi colour, not sure of the red candy. I am betting it'll still look awesome when you're done.

Yeah, I wondered if I'd done the right thing with the candy paint. But it was always my plan to have a subtle pattern under the candy. I liked all the different colours, but I wanted it to look like a kinda stock two tone, with a hidden surprise on the roof.
I've got another one in my stash. I'll give that a much more flamboyant paint job.
