'72 Chev Vega
A promo from ebay. Part of the 'fun' with these old promo kits is undoing near 50 year old glue or in this case heat welded bonds. The Dremel got a work out. The plastic on this one is still flexible, unlike the Chevette I build several months ago.
It's not bad for a promo. Moulding is crisp, separate pieces for shifter & hand brake are nice touch.
Before starting: The body is good, still glossy. Chrome is passable.
The usual one piece under body. Not much to do other than pick some details out in paint here
After I attacked it with screwdrivers and the Dremel. Body sanded and the underside & interior done by next week is my plan.

Nice project. I had a '72 GT. Silver with a black stripe. Terrible car - the rear shocks ripped loose from the body sheetmetal. A common occurrence.
But they're great for models!

Thanx for a memory. At least plastic doesn't rust the way cars did back then!

This should be interesting. I have one of these promo cars (Ford SHO Tarsus) but not sure what I should do to it if anything at all.

Always fun watching this sort of enhancement to promo and pre-built models.

Re: '72 Chev Vega
Despite some kitchen & lounge renovations, I still had time to model! ( ya gotta prioritise the important stuff, like modelling & motorsport)
Here's the latest. I tried to duplicate a factory finish of blue overspray over the red oxide primer.
The interior got a new column with indicator & the key bump, as well as some scratch built pedals.

Re: '72 Chev Vega
Great job.
I have a soft spot for the Vega myself. It was my first car. Great body style, almost like a mini 70 Camaro but so poorly designed in the front end it the just didn't last. Rust and unibody stress breaks were the death of them.

Great work! The BMF is crisp and the lines are classic and clean. I, too, have fond memories of the Vega, love that it 'lives' on even if only in scale form.
