1966 Chevy El Camino
I started this one for last years 'Pick em up' community build but it got stalled for personal reasons.
Time to get it finished but I'm going to do it here instead of the group thread.
More info on how and why HERE
I think I'm going to finish it as a curbside to ease myself back to the bench.

Thanks Shay.
No, the red bits are stretched electrical tape under the clear coats.

Re: 1966 Chevy El Camino
That's a new one on me Al, any pics? That stuff is pretty thick so I assume stretching it out makes it thinner.
So you have to handle it, are you using the sticky side or fixing it in place by other means?
I love this thinking outside the box.

Re: 1966 Chevy El Camino
No photos Shay. I just stretch it out as far as I can, stick it down to a sheet of styrene, mark the ends on the styrene and leave it for several days. If it contracts, I repeat until it stops stretching.
Then cut into desire width strips while using steel rule and sharp blade while stil on the styrene, adhere to model, then clear coat straight away which appears to stop any further contraction.
Job done.

Great paint work on the body and the stretched out tape works excellently. I really like the colour combo, unique and elegant.

That narrow red stripe is fantastic. Nice choice in body paint colours too. Thanx for the pix!
