Albatross DIII - Hit Kit 1/72

Things not going well with the Tyrell, but I'm sticking with it.

In the meantime, I'll start this one as well as digging into the old WIP box.  I like the yellowish splatter over scarlet paintwork.


We'll see how the splatter decals work out.


This is the first I've heard of Hit Kit.  There is a lot of flash involved here.  As an alternative I can substitute Roden's plastic from a different kit.


It comes with nice PE, but the spoked wheels aren't used for this version.

Cool old bird !

Broke the delicate struts of the Hit Kit trying to smoothe off the flashing.  So, I went ahead and substituted the Roden version.  

Assembled interior and fuselage and painted bright red.  Looking at the swirl decals, it doesn't look like there's enough to cover the whole plane as in the boxart.

Decals are awfully stiff and require a lot of Solvaset to snuggle down.  But things are going ahead.  

Got the top wing upper surface done.  Can you see the swirl decal?


Can't see it? Maybe a closeup will help.


Also got the upper portion of the fuselage decaled.

Wow, that is a subtle pattern on the decal. It went on very nicely, excellent work!
