I built this Revell Merc back in 2016. I added some side trim from half round plastic strip to separate the colours.

After working out the shape I wanted I just cut it to length, glued it on and cut it throught where the door shut lines were. Here's a pic before paint.

After it was painted it was just a matter of putting some BMF on it.

Yep, sounds easy!

Lots of them were done with chrome trim from other cars back in the day just like that.
