Re: '57 sectioned
Tackled that hood,
Had to spacer the rear to get the nose up to the Camero's front edge. Notched for the setback on the sides and built an edge on the underside. Topping with Bondo and have to do the finishing yet, but I think it'll be OK !
I'm using the stamped cutout. It's too far forward for my carbs and I'll have to open the back quite a bit. But it's goin' !

Do you have the hood from the car you took the nose from?

No. That nose piece is all that was in my salvage stash. I had built one of those Baldwin Cameros years ago., but I seldom rob from a previously built model. Even if they HAVE been stuffed in a box and ignored for years.

Re: '57 sectioned
Doing this kind of butchery for nearly 20 years, you'd think I'd know better . There is a reason I never paint until the last possible thing before trying final assembly. Too much handling !
4 steps backwards today ! I didn't like the way the hood opening was going, and the air filters on the Webbers were infringing big time.
Found a really low profile scoop in the salvage and a Mopar hood blister. Didn't really care for the scoop look, and the Mopar wouldn't fit over it. I think I want that Mopar. I had glued a thin plate to the Webbers to mount the scoop on. And I had to take that off so I could drill openings in the carb tops and leave them open. Well, that process caused a front wheel to break off ! Grrr!! In the last photo with the Mopar blister mocked on, you can see where I am adding to the front of the 57 hood, to build a peak to line up better with the Camero nose. Tomorrow is another day to deal with this!

I'm sure the front area will look much better when all painted one color. There seems to be a lot going on in the hood area. Maybe paint will unify the look. Good luck!

Yeah, That Mopar bulge looks a bit large in the photos.
I'm hoping it will look better when it and the hood are the same dolor 1
Thanks for looking everyone ! Butchering salvage stuff is a lot of fun, if one doesn't let all of the mismatching get frustrating !

The hood mods are going to work Clay but I too think the scoop looks overly bulbous. Maybe it will tone down when the paint is applied.

Yep ! That scoop is two pieces. The top was loose, and not thinking ahead any, I supeerglued it back. Now I think that without the base it would look much better. I'm about to take another step backward, voluntarily. I have too much work in this puppy to be having the paint look like it was done by a gluebomber.
So I think I'll try to separate that scoop, and then prepare to paint the body over, Wish I hadn't of put the glass in !

Awesome work! I know what you mean about the 'taking things out of step' problem as I run into that regularly both in hobby world and real life, lol. The result looks great, too bad about the Weber's but there you are.

Re: '57 sectioned
When the hurricane threat came upon me, I was struggling with the paint, Now that I have the major part of the tree debris under control, I can think about playing again.
I am liking how this creation has jelled and I find I cannot ignore the crappy paint job. So, It is soaking in a brake fluid bath and I'll start over on the finish. I'll have to vacuum form some new windows too.

Hard work pays off, whether sweeping tree debris off a roof or creating a work of art.

I didn't realize it either. After a couple of primer coats and color, I had put some clear enamel on it to set the chrome. Then , wasn't happy, put another coat of color, re-cleared it. noticed some faint crinkling. Sanded it and more clear. so adding more paint wasn't the solution. Taking it all off was the only option.. Getting it under control, now.
