Fokker DVII-F Roden 1/72
Well, the Nieuport is nearing completion and it's time for another project. I saw some Part photoetch for a Fokker DVII F on ebay and had to grab it. It's a rather intense photoetch for 1/72 scale. The framework ribbing and it's interior parts get assembled by itself and later slid into the shell of the fuselage. I acquired their PE kit for a Gotha II Bomber some time back, but felt I needed something smaller to test my skills and eyes on first.
So here is Hermann Goering's Fokker DVII-F that's going to be the test subject. It's another Roden 1/72 scale kit. I like the Roden line because it's well detailed, low priced and a bit easier for me than Eduard's.
The framework comes out as 1 piece that gets folded up to form the cage.
Wish me luckon this one,
Mike

Superior model for 1/72! Let us know which mental institution you'll be at when you're done. I'll want to send my thanks.

Hey, it's only 1/72 - after doing the PE for the 1/600 Iron Duke, this should be almost 9 times easier - Right? LOL
This is the frame cage, cut out successfully. The PART photoetch cuts a lot easier than Eduard or Tom's Modelworks.
Laying a single edge razor at the bend line on top, I used another single edge blade underneath to lift and make the bend.
A little final adjustment to make it square and it's ready to be CA'd tight. Floorpiece looks crooked because its not glued on the right side yet.
So far, so good.

Fantastic PE work Mike, shame to hide it with the plastic!

That PE is amazing - hard to believe it's out of the box and not an add-on. Looking forward to seeing this develop.

Minor setback on this one. I primed the frame with Tamiya grey and trying to duplicate the light grey frame on Goerring's plane, shot some rattle can light grey enamel. It clogged up the little holes and filled in the gussets. So, it's been sprayed with oven cleaner to try again.
It looks like this will be a long term project with slow progress. So, another project will be started.
