58 Corvette - Old WIP's
Well I got another one out of the WIP box before the end of the year. It's a 1958 Corvette with Fuel Injection from a Revell-Monogram Pro Modeler kit. It originally got dumped in the box after painting, due to warpage of the chromed rear bumpers. The right one was so bad, it looked like a crescent moon. So I put them in very hot water and began bending them back. But the chrome on the right one cracked from excessive bending. When I dug it back out, I stripped the chrome from the front and rear bumpers and windshield surround, and redid them with Alclad. Another problem arose during final assembly. The stance is too high. Forcing it down makes the engine pop the hood up and the rear doesn't force down enough. I tried to disassemble 4 different times looking for interference points, but couldn't find it. So, I just finished it up and got it ready for the shelf. If you don't look at the tire clearance or the license location, it looks alright. The problem must lie somewhere in the multi-piece frame/floor/interior/door cards/inner fenders.
Thanks for looking.

I'd be happy to claim that as one of my builds. Blue & white rock, Mike.

What a beauty. Excellent workmanship. It looks like it could crank and run.

OH MY! Beautiful paint choices and immaculate work on the Vette! I'm speechless. Ordinarily I'm not a fan of Corvette design, but a well done model brings out all the nostalgic wonderment of the era when all things seemed possible here. The "Route 66" TV show of the era had a later Corvette with Buzz and Todd exploring America. A few eps. on youtube as well.
