......... and many many thanks!! We owe you SO much.
He was shot down twice, (was back in the skies withing four hours after one of them) was decorated ten times and survived three Russian firing squads!!

Agreed. Myself and I'm sure others here are not being disrespectful about this, It's just I do not know who it is. Perhaps you could tell us a little bit more about Willy.

Wow, I had never heard of him. After reading his story, I find he was a truly amazing person. RIP Willy.

Al: I missed this when it was first posted. As you know from the many conversations we have had I deeply admire the members of the RAF who defended your nation against all odds in 1940/41. Those men were owed a debt that could never be repaid. Willy was obviously a hero. He was one of the "so few" and he was a jew. Every time he flew over Europe he was not only risking death fighting, but he was also risking being captured. FOR him to have been captured would have meant a hideous death at the hands of the Nazis. He was a true hero.
