Revell 1/16 Rolls Royce Phantom 2 continental
Hi all well i figured since i seem to be ruining everything i touch lately i thought maybe i should try a new kit, if i make a hash up of this im going to take it as time to hang up my modeling tools and give up all together i decided to do all the chrome on this gold i was having trouble getting the gold leaf to stick to this but now is sorted the gold leaf sticks now but I couldn't get a good shine on it (its too soft as soon as you try to buff it (however gentle you are)it rubs off) so I've had to settle for imitation gold leaf (it's a bit tougher) I think it looks much better.
This is the main colour I'm doing it (not even sure if I will be adding another colour yet) I think the gold looks good with it, opinions please?

It's ford squeeze green (it's actually the colour of my car)

I think they mistakenly added a letter in there.
Too bad about your string of bad luck, but the colour is great, I really like it. Looks like one of the the shades on my recent project.

Cool, a Rolls. That colour is excellent and it totally goes with gold, imho.

Re: Revell 1/16 Rolls Royce Phantom 2 continental
Hi all well i was looking at a poacher build of this car and (although it's a 1/8 kit do twice the size of this) I thought I could add more detail to the engine so I've removed a bit moulded to the engine (not sure what the part is) but I've seen it in a lot more detail on the poacher kit and I think it is a fairly easy bit to improve (I'm not saying this will end up like a poacher kit but I am going to try and add what detail I can)

Im sure you'll get it looking great Ken, Pocher kits do look brilliant but they are so expensive.
Im following along with this.

Pocher kits look really impressive, but cost plenty and time they take to complete dissuade almost all builders. They are the "2000 piece jigsaw puzzles" of car kits.
Your work is creative and therefore more interesting.

Re: Revell 1/16 Rolls Royce Phantom 2 continental
Hi all revell put the location tab for this part but for some reason didn't make the part.
I've fabricated it also the other bits which are attached to the sump (don't know what any of the parts are) but they help fill empty spaces, they are not exactly right the black box thingy with 2 nuts on the top should have 3 but I've not got any small enough, but I figure it's better than having nothing there.

Looks good. Long ago I started, the Monogram 1/24 Rolls. Your engine looks very familiar. Good progress. Am getting used to body color. I once saw at a car show a '20s Packard in silver with light green solid wheels. The owner said they were colors of the car originally.

The improvements to the engine are excellent! The carpet and the paint fade/shade are quite cool. Looking forward to seeing the development.

Hi all here is the next update, progress may slow down a bit as I'm waiting for some alclad gold (hoping I looks shinier than the gold leaf)

The engine and details look great! And waiting is part of the process - I can't count the number of times I bollixed things up by being impatient and trying to cut corners. Looking forward to seeing this build develop.
