One more salvage build
This is a small selection that I had saved from the care package quite a while back.
Going to see if I can come up with something from it.
Big search for some 'big n' little tires" from the large selection I have in the box at the rear left.
Then a search for some suitable wheels. Couldn't find a matched pair that I liked, so I'll be going with a Cragar type in the rear and a set of spoked on the front. Next, a massive search for some rear rims that will go with the backing plates that are on the axle ends .
I had bypassed the large (32) frame and will be modifying a smaller '29 type with a suicide front end.
I have brought out a Revell parts pac Pontiac engine and have it well on it's way.
The parts pac is one of several I got YEARS ago, and have shunned them because at 1:25 they all seem smaller. But times are lean, so here it comes. I had robbed this of it's exhaust and can't come up with anything in the exhaust salvage bin yet, that'll fit. But, that'll be a problem to solve later.

I love these parts builds. And though 1/25 might not fit 'exactly' with the 1/24 the fact that you're combining parts from different sources might help to blend in the scale diff's so they're unnoticeable. I look forward to watching this one develop!

You're right about the highly detailed "holy chrome!" parts pack engines. They did seem small and headers also looked small and delicate. Maybe it's doing some 1/24 kits with engines that seemed to me too big. Good luck, I admire your drive to always get to another model!

Re: One more salvage build
The chromed Cragars had spinner knock off glued on to them pretty well, and I needed some hubcaps for the front wires. So, I went to a small drawer that had odds n' ends in it. I thought I recalled that there might be some old slot car threaded spinners. Sure enough. Man, these had to be from the 60's. The old pack rat comes thru again !

Re: One more salvage build
LOL.... they are from the days when slot cars had threaded axles for the wheels!! Look good though.

I like seeing what you all can come up with from nothing but parts...many of mine are made from them--parts cars--junkers--and just a box of pieces. Nice to see stuff not go to waste too. Looks like it will be a cool project.

Rear end is now Z'd.
Looking at the interior tub, I'll have to rebuild the damaged rear edge.

Interesting, that tub is rough. I am sure you will massage into something worthy of MOM.

Re: One more salvage build
After 'fixing' the rear of the tub, I discover that it doesn't match up with the body at all !
So. that. and dropping the body down over the frame leads me to abandon the idea of using the tub. I'll have to "Geezer" the interior. I may try to save the seat portion of it.

Coming along nicely. There's always little hang ups when you're modding parts, one of the many occupational hazards of scale model building (along with bleeding and cursing, lol). Looking forward to what comes next

The firewall has been recessed and it clears the newly wired and installed magnito.

Re: One more salvage build
Looks cool to me...nice builds can come from just a batch of parts laying around. I have built a few from parts myself.

Re: One more salvage build
I like the way the rear tire and body line come together. Is it going to sit that low? Wait don't tell me I want to be surprised.
